Lucas completed his Bachelor’s in Biology at Nevada State University in Henderson, Nevada, and was in an array of research labs from ecology, conservation biology and nucleic acid biochemistry working with Dr. Edmonds, Dr. Sigel and Dr. Hellman, respectfully. He is currently a PhD candidate in his fourth year at the University of California, Irvine in the Fleischman lab getting his Doctorate in Biological Chemistry. Lucas is currently studying myeloproliferative neoplasm’s JAK2V617F mutation and its ability for non-canonical signalling through the IL-10 pathway and the impact on malignant expansion and hematopoietic stem cell exhaustion. He has earned an NIH F31 grant for his predoctoral work.
